Renovation of the Rio Caloria intersection at the Via Alpignano The Rio Caloria, in the Municipality of San Gillio, has numerous interferences with the municipal road network. Reduced flow sections and growth of abundant vegetation in the canal bed had partially obstructed the section; with heavy rains there have been numerous floods, aggravated by the tendency to deposit sediments just below the crossing structures. At the intersection with Via Alpignano the current crossing (pipes of insufficient diameter) was replaced with a new work consisting of a reinforced concrete structure with a rectangular section (2.50 x 1.65 m) designed to facilitate the outflow by reducing the coefficient of roughness of the canal. This allows to reduce the deposition of sediment within the structure and limit plant growth. The section of the crossing can guarantee, however, in case of possible accumulation of material, a prompt removal by means of small excavators.
